Match a Donation(Comments Off)

We’re nearing the end. Things are going well for the Obama campaign but we can’t be complacent. You may have already donated, and that’s awesome. Now please consider matching a new donor’s gift right here:

By offering to match, you can help bring in new donors. The campaign has a goal of signing up 100,000 new donors by Friday.

Matching donations today(Comments Off)

I don’t know if this is only today or if it goes on for a while, but click here to get to a donation page where someone in the country will match your donation dollar-for-dollar.

Why don’t these jerkoffs just give the maximum amount of money they’re allowed to instead of doing this matching charade, you ask? It’s an effective strategy for convincing people to donate (works for public radio). If it doesn’t work on you, get someone else to donate.

We helped, and we’re going to have to keep on helping(0)

The Obama campaign took in $66 million in August, adding 500,000 new donors to his list and putting the campaign war chest at $77 million. The DNC raised $17.3 million and their bank account stands at $17.5 million. Obama’s fundraising is going well. The DNC, not so much.

John McCain was cut a check for $84 million from the government since he accepted public financing, and the Republican National Committee ended the month with somewhere between $110 to $125 million on hand. They hope to raise another $100 million in September to October, giving them $300 million to fight with for those two months. Keep in mind, though, that Senate and House races will be fought with some of that money too, whereas Obama’s money is free to be spent directly on his own campaign.

To counteract that, Obama and the DNC need to rake in over $100 million a month for both September and October. That doesn’t seem likely, but Palin’s speech did motivate a flood of donations to Obama that will be reflected in the September numbers. Plus these are the two most important months of the campaign, and I suspect many more contributers will come out.

If you haven’t given, give now. If you have given, give again as soon as you can (current offer on the Obama site: an Obama ‘08 mug for a $15 donation). At the very least, ask your friends and family to give whatever they can.

Nintendorks are awesome(0)

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. The small donors are going to make a huge difference this election. If you’re worried about Obama not advertising enough, Joe Biden hints at what it’s being spent on: the most incredible ground operation any presidential campaign has ever seen. To get a feel for the scale, there are 70 campaign offices in Ohio. 63 offices in Pennsylvania. In August, Floridian volunteers registered 80,000 voters. This is where the campaign will be won. It’s a lot of real estate, and it takes a lot of money to run.

There are 3 buttons left, and I’ll throw in a sticker with each button. Aside from that, 4 more people can get 2 stickers, so the next 7 donors are guaranteed to get something for their generosity. Please donate today!

Also, you may have noticed the goal has been doubled. I’m hosting a local fundraiser, and apparently the Obama site merges any online donations from that effort into the Nintendorks one too. So basically, not all of the money you see in the graphic to the right is from Nintendorks, but right now most of it is. Thanks!

It’s really easy to set up your own fundraising page or host an event at my.barackobama.com. If you know any lawyers, please encourage them to volunteer on election day to prevent electoral fraud. Finally, volunteer to register voters, and point your friends to voteforchange.com for easy voter registration.
